Student Opportunities for Academic Achievement through Research (SOAR)

The Student Opportunities for Academic Achievement through Research (SOAR) offers students completing their MS1 year the opportunity to participate in an 8-week summer research experience under the direction of a faculty mentor and receive a $2,500 stipend. Projects may be clinical or basic research and provide rising second-year medical students with a hands-on experience that provides an introduction to research. Research is the driving force behind medical advancement and this experience changes the way students learn to think as physicians and influence their practice of medicine. It also has the potential to open new doors, as many residencies look for research experience.
